What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Alongside cookies, FancyText also uses your browser's local storage to save certain preferences directly on your device. They help the website remember your preferences and improve your experience.

Cookies and data we use

Local storage (essential)

The following data is stored directly in your browser and is not sent to our server (unless you sign in to sync):

Light/dark mode: Saves your display mode preference
Favorite characters: Your list of saved characters (synced to your account if you sign in)
Copy history: Characters you've recently copied, so you can reuse them quickly
Character combo tool: Remembers the characters you're combining
App install banner: Remembers when you've dismissed the install prompt (PWA) so it doesn't show again

Sign-in cookies

When you sign in with a Google account, Firebase Authentication (a Google service) stores your session in your browser to keep you signed in. If you don't sign in, these cookies/data are not created.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with the website. This service sets its own cookies (e.g. _ga) and collects data in aggregate, anonymized form to help us improve the service.

Advertising

FancyText currently does not run ads and does not use third-party advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy.

Note: Disabling cookies or clearing local storage may affect some website features — for example, your light/dark mode preference, favorite characters list (when not signed in), and copy history will not be saved, and you may be signed out.
