Flip your text upside down using Unicode — type normally and get ʇxǝʇ uʍop ǝpısdn. Copy and paste into any platform. A classic internet trick that still works on all modern devices.

How does upside down text work?

Upside down text is created by replacing each letter with its closest Unicode “rotated” equivalent. For example, the letter a becomes ɐ (U+0250, Latin Small Letter Turned A), b becomes q, and the text order is reversed so it reads right-to-left — giving the illusion of text flipped 180°. These are actual Unicode characters from the IPA Extensions and other Unicode blocks, so they paste and display correctly everywhere.

Not every letter has a perfect upside-down equivalent in Unicode, but the most common letters (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z) all have recognisable rotated versions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does upside down text work on all platforms?

Yes. The Unicode characters used for upside down text are drawn from IPA Extensions and Latin Extended ranges that have wide support across iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac. They display correctly on Instagram, Twitter, Discord, WhatsApp, and most other platforms.

Is the text actually rotated or just look-alike characters?

It uses look-alike characters — each letter is replaced with the closest Unicode character that resembles it rotated 180°. The text is also reversed in order so the result reads correctly when flipped. It’s an approximation, not a true rotation.

Can I flip numbers upside down too?

Some numbers have upside-down equivalents (1→⌐, 6→9, 9→6) but others don’t. Full upside-down coverage is better for letters than numbers.

Why doesn’t the text look right for some letters?

Not every letter has a perfect Unicode equivalent when rotated. Some letters (like k, q, x) use approximate substitutes that may not look exactly right when flipped. This is a limitation of available Unicode characters, not the generator.
